Swans rescued in storm makes the front page lead of the Chronicle this week

The weekend storm which battered the North Coast makes the front page lead of the Coleraine Chronicle which is out in the shops and available online now.

Our story reports how swans were rescued after floundering in the surf at the West Strand in Portrush with brave passers-by wading in and carrying them to safety.

Also on the front page we report how Sinn Fein representatives, who took part in last month's Drumcree protest, have met the Parades Commission seeking “meaningful action” over a march in Kilrea. A TUV councillor has accused them of displaying “breath-taking double standards.”

Inside the paper we report how Tiger Woods is set to design the new Bellarena £30m golf course and an historic bathing spot in Portrush, the Blue Pool, is to be repaired.

We also have a special news feature on how the family of a Portstewart man, who died suddenly of a heart attack, has spoken of their loss to increase awareness of cardiovascular risk.

The very latest news from Cloonavin is also featured this week with councillors clashing over a leisure centre discount proposal for emergency personnel and we have a page on the Mayor's charity cycle which has riased £1600 for Chest, Heart and Stroke.

Community Forum this week features Portrush Heritage Group and how Portstewart charity fundraisers for Action Cancer are nearing their £50k target. Portrush Primary, St. John's Primary and Kilrea Primary all feature on Schools Platform this week.

Along with four entertainment pages, two health pages, four farming pages and 17 pages packed with the very latest local sporting action, it's been another busy news week so don't miss out and get your very own copy now.
