Agreement on expansion at Sandelford School...it could be childs play!

If agreement with the council is reached, the additional Rugby Avenue land would allow the EA to increase Sandelford’s capacity by around 100 pupils.
A DEAL between the Council and the Education Authority to accommodate the expansion of Sandelford School may involve funding towards a “destination playpark” at the next door recreation grounds.
Last year the Chronicle revealed that schools chiefs had asked Causeway Coast and Glens Council to consider transferring land at Rugby avenue to accommodate more pupils at Sandelford.
At the time it was reported the EA was offering in return land at Lodge Road once occupied by Coleraine High School.

This week details of potential new deals focusing entirely on Rugby Avenue have emerged from a Council Leisure and Development Committee report.
The report outline options for refurbishment of the site’s current ageing playpark. Councillors will be told, the scheme has been complicated by EA’s continued interest in acquiring land for Sandelford School.
