Independent study reveals tournament’s economic impact.

THE 2026 SupercupNI generated over £10m for Causeway Coast and Glens, according to organisers.

The figure was revealed in a letter to the council seeking a meeting with officers and elected representatives to reflect on the success of July’s event and discuss “challenges” envisaged in 2027.

Tournament co-ordinator Sam Gamble said world class teams from all four corners of the globe descended upon Causeway Coast and Glens with the aim of competing for “one of the most prestigious prizes in youth football.”

And he went on to acknowledged the “pivotal role” played by the council in ensuring “our tournament continues to be admired and viewed as one of the top youth football tournaments in Europe.”

He said global footballing superpowers including Manchester United, Rangers, Celtic, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and the likes of Right to Dream, Tigres UANL and Kamimura from Japan all brought teams to our shores and enjoyed their footballing experience, as well as warm hospitality from the borough’s residents.
