Coleraine Chronicle exclusively reports how hundreds of jobs could be created in major harbour expansion plans

'BANN-TASTIC' is the striking front page headline of this week's edition of the Coleraine Chronicle which is in the shops and available online now.

We exclusively report how hundreds of jobs could be created under new plans to transform Coleraine Port by the Harbour Commissioners.

The ambitious plans include a hotel, student accommodation, industrial units to service off-shore windfarms and an international rowing centre. Read the full story in this week's paper.

Also on the front page this week we report how campaigners have called for a show of strength at Coleraine Town Hall this Saturday in support of maintaining services at the Causeway Hospital.

Inside we reveal how there could soon be agreement between the council and the Education Authority over expansion plans for Sandelford School in Coleraine with hopes for a 'destination playpark' at the nearby recreation grounds.

Other news this week include how the 2026 Supercup NI generated over £10m for the area; Stormont has offered £800k for long awaited upgrades at Parker Avenue in Portrush, the council is to replace 'health and safety risk' railings at a beauty spot in Portstewart and the DfI is facing a £1m bill for repairs to Kilrea bridge.

Also this week we have a special news feature on how a Garvagh man came to aid Hungarian refugees after the uprising against Russian occupation in 1956.

We also have our usual popular news features - Community Forum this week has a special report on the late and dearly missed Anita Culbertson, the fantastic fundraising efforts of the Coleraine Committee of Cancer Research UK and two pages from the Olive Branch fundraiser at Tamlaght O'Crilly; Schools' Platform features Kilrea and Millburn primary school and we have three Entertainment pages devoted to the Swell Festival in Portrush.

So along with four farming pages and no less than 17 packed sports pages, this is another busy paper with news and views from right across the Causeway Coast and Glens – don't miss out and get your own copy now!
