The hosts cruised to victory after a nine goal frenzy afternoon
A BOUNCE back was what we needed, is what the Portstewart boss David McDaid said, and a bounce back from their first League defeat is exactly what happened.
It was nothing short of smooth sailing from the opening whistle as the home side scored their first three goals in just 18 minutes. Jake Martin was first across the line in the afternoon, and was joined shortly after by Dylan King, and Lewis Tennant - the 3-0 lead after less than 20 minutes of action had all but won the game.
But things went from bad to worse in the second half for the visitors. Portstewart continued their goal scoring with another from Dylan King, Orrin McLaughlin, Daniel Boyle’s brace, Tiarnan McKinney, and Dean Brown.
Portstewart extended their lead at the top of the table, moving to 24 points from nine games. A League clash against St James Swifts’ has been postponed as Portstewart turn their efforts to a derby clash against Heights FC this Saturday at the Rope Walk in the Craig Memorial Cup Semi Final. Kick off is at 2pm.
