Limavady dig deep to deny Larne a home victory

LIMAVADY United earned a valuable point at Inver Park this evening through a disciplined and determined performance.

The visitors defended resolutely during the first half and left Larne struggling to create clear chances. Lewis Tosh tested Rohan Ferguson from distance - while Larne’s Jordan McEneff and Dylan Sloan went too high.

The home side started the brighter of the pair, McEneff forced a save from ‘keeper Marty Gallagher, and the hosts would have a goal ruled offside after Paul O’Neill followed up Gallagher’s stop from Conor McKendry.

The Roesiders took the lead after Roan Wilson cut inside the area and fired past Ferguson. But Larne responded shortly thereafter with McKendry crossing it in to Aaron Donnelly who hit the back of the net.

The hosts appealed unsuccessfully for a penalty after Ruairi Boorman’s challenge on McKendry. Despite the late pressure from Larne, Limavady were able to hold firm and claim a well fought for point on the road.

All attention now turns to Saturday for Limavady as they host Crusaders at the Showgrounds with all intentions on maintaining their recent unbeaten form.
