Portstewart's unbeaten run comes to a dramatic end

Portstewart's unbeaten run came to an end after they suffered a defeat in last night’s match
THE Seahawks made the trip to Planters Park against fellow National Conference League side Dollingstown with a bid to maintain their winning form, but despite leading the match for more than an hour, the home side mounted a dramatic comeback to end the contest 3-2.
Portstewart ‘s first goal came after 25 minutes courtesy of serial scorer Dean Brown with an assist from Lewis Tennant, and the one goal lead stayed that way until after the hour when Zach Barr extended the gap.
In the final 15 minutes, the game could have been considered over and done, but the Dolly’s had other plans for how the evening would finish. Alexander Eakin started their trio of goal scoring in the 76th minute, with substitute Abraham Badus levelling the score out in the 85th minute.
A draw looked inevitable, not a bad result for both sides. But Dollingstown pushed forward to end the unbeaten run of the League leaders after scoring their third and final goal to steal all three points from Portstewart.
A bitter defeat on the road for the Seahawks, but despite dropping points, they maintain their comfortable lead in the League at 21 points, with their nearest challengers Ballyclare Comrades with 15 points.
On Saturday Portstewart will look to right the wrong of last night’s result as they welcome Banbridge Town FC to the R KINGS Competition Stadium, a win here will certainly give their League counterparts a mountain to keep on climbing.
