Your weekly sporting recap

IT'S that time of the week again; we have another week's coverage of sporting news across the Borough.

As always, starting from the back, Coleraine FC may have won on Sunday, but head coach Ruaidhri Higgins believes that his side 'have to be ready' ahead of Saturday's clash against Cliftonville FC. The Derry SFC are down to the last four after reaching the semi-final stages - Magherafelt and Slaughtneil, and Glen vs Newbridge.

Football

Coleraine defeated Bangor FC 3-2 on Sunday to widen the gap over Linfield FC, who were inactive over the weekend. The win was hard-fought, with goals from Matthew Shevlin, Joe Thomson, and Will Patching. Limavady United suffered a hard defeat against Portadown FC after a 3-1 finish and two red cards raised to The Roesiders; they now face Ballymena United on Saturday.

Golf

There's a large golf round-up across the courses of trophy and competition winners who potted the perfect scores. Gracehill and Bushfoot GC held a prize-giving and a Past Ladies Captain's Day, with pictures of the two events provided.

Cricket

Coleraine 1st XI suffered a defeat to the Ulster Elks in their opening match of the Denman Ulster Shield after the Elks proved too strong. The 3rd XI also took a loss against Belfast Harlequins. The Harlequins took an early lead, but despite the scoreline, Coleraine showed a tireless effort throughout.
