Kodi Lyons-Foster has joined Ballymena United on a short term loan from Coleraine on a busy day of transfer activity at the Showgrounds.

The 29-year-old Englishman joins the Sky Blues for the first half of the Boyle Sports Premiership season, with his loan spell lasting until January to give United a further option in their defensive line as cover with Jonny Addis currently ruled out with injury.

Lyons-Foster joined Coleraine following a successful spell with Glentoran and made 22 appearances for the Bannsiders last season. However, he has featured little this campaign.

Speaking to the Ballymena United club website following his move, the central defender said he was looking forward to getting started.

"Playing against Ballymena, particularly at the Showgrounds, has always been a tough fixture," he said.

"When you look at the squad, with the additions this summer, it's really exciting. It's a great football club and I can't wait to get started and pick up as many points as possible in these next months."

Oran Kearney also outlined the reasons for bringing Kodi in.

"With Jonny Addis picking up his injury in pre-season and the timeline we now have on that, it was important we brought in good quality cover," he said.

"Kodi knows the league well and ticks all our boxes and we're looking forward to working with him until January."
